Mumbai, Sept. 8 -- union Minister of State for Social Justice, Ramdas Athawale, has stated that the reservation currently available to the Other Backward Classes (OBC) is less than the proportion of their population.
Therefore, he stated that while granting reservation to the Maratha community, care must be taken to ensure that no injustice is done to OBCs. He further emphasized that even if the Hyderabad Gazetteer is implemented, the Maratha community will not be entitled to blanket reservation.
Athawale reminded that the Maratha community has already been granted 10 per cent reservation under the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category. Including Marathas entirely within the OBC category could lead to injustice to other groups within...
