Damascus, Nov. 28 -- Israeli airstrikes early on Friday killed at least 10 people, including women and children, in the town of Beit Jinn in the southwestern countryside of Damascus, following reported clashes between Israeli troops and local residents, Syrian state media said.

Syrian state-run Al-Ekhbariya TV reported that several others remained trapped under the rubble as rescue efforts were hampered by continued Israeli drone activity over the area.

The broadcaster said the strikes were carried out shortly after an Israeli military patrol reportedly entered Beit Jinn and was surrounded by local residents, leading to an exchange of fire before the patrol withdrew, and air raids intensified.
