Hyderabad, Nov. 20 -- The CPI Telangana State Council on Thursday organised a roundtable on "Fake Encounters" at Makhdoom Bhavan, Himayatnagar, bringing together retired judges, academics, political leaders and rights activists who sharply criticised alleged police encounters of Maoists and accused the Centre of undermining constitutional values.
Former judge Justice Chandra Kumar said the government must immediately halt "fake encounters" and ensure that Maoists laying down arms are not killed. He urged Maoist groups to give peace a chance, stressing the rule of law must be upheld.
