Shimla, July 3 -- A complaint has been lodged with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) about the brutal assault on National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) officer Achal Jindal in Shimla.
The alleged incident, involving Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Anirudh Singh and his supporters, has now drawn the attention of BJP leader and former MP Avinash Rai Khanna.
In a letter dated July 3, addressed to the NHRC chairman, Khanna has sought urgent intervention into what he termed a clear violation of human rights.
He enclosed a request letter from Narendra Singh, president of the NHAI Engineers Association, detailing the attack and expressing serious concern over the alleged inaction by the state authorities.
