Guwahati, May 16 -- Acclaimed Assamese singer Gayatri Hazarika died at a hospital here on Friday afternoon after a long battle with colon cancer. family sources said.

Hazarika, 45, is survived by her husband and two sons, besides a host of admirers.

She had been admitted to a private hospital since May 12.
