Guwahati, July 23 -- Assam government decided to take a loan of Rs. 2750 crore from the World Bank for the education sector.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said this today after addressing a cabinet meeting at Dibrugarh.

He said that the state's share in the loan will be 10 percent while the Central government will return the 90 percent of the loan.

"We are going to use this loan amount for training the teachers on maths and science, training the head teachers of the school on management, to promote work on science and technology and to stop school drop outs in Assam," he said

"A total of 400 schools in the state will get Rs 3 crore to Rs 5 crore each to develop their infrastructure and will spend about Rs. 25 lakh each for ...
