Guwahati, Oct. 9 -- The ruling BJP in Assam received a body blow after veteran saffron leader and four time Lok Sabha MP, Rajen Gohain resigned from the saffron party.
Gohain, who had won the Nowgong (pronounced Nagaon) Lok Sabha constituency for four consecutive terms from 1999 to 2019, has not made it clear if he is joining any other political party.
Gohain was also inducted in the union Cabinet as a Minister of state for Railways in 2016.
Gohain was however, sidelined in the saffron party since 2019 when he was first denied a party ticket to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha election.
In 2019, BJP fielded sitting MLA Rupak Sharma in place of Gohain. Gohain had expressed his desire to contest the 2021 assembly elections in Assam from Barhamp...
