Guwahati, Nov. 5 -- Veteran BJP leader and four time Lok Sabha MP, Rajen Gohain on Wednesday formally joined Assam's regional political party, Asom Jatiya Parishad (AJP).

A former union Minister Rajen Gohain had been a member of BJP for four decades before snapping his tied with the saffron party last month.

Gohain joined the AJP at a formal function held in Guwahati on Wednesday and said that he has joined the regional party with an intention to serve and not to gain anything.

"The BJP has turned an enemy for the people of Assam. The BJP in Assam is running a reign of Hitlar and destroyed the social fabric of Assam," Gohain said and urged the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) to come out of the BJP led coalition.
