Diphu, Oct. 29 -- The Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) has accepted a number of developmental proposals submitted by the Khasi-Pnar communities living in Block I and II areas in East and West Karbi Anglong districts.
KAAC Chief Executive Member, Tuliram Ronghang yesterday held an interaction with several tribal Khasi-Pnar representatives inhabiting Block I and II, a contentious area between Meghalaya and Assam at Taralangso in West Karbi Anglong.
The meeting between the Khasi-Pnar communities and the KAAC is significant in the backdrop of the recent violent clashes between the tribal Khasi-Pnar and Karbis at Lapangap, an area claimed by both Assam and Meghalaya. One Karbi man died in the border clashes.
