Aizawl, Aug. 25 -- On the occasion of 'Purr Day', the Assam Rifles renamed the National Integrity & Educational Development Organisation (NIEDO) centre at Zokhawsang, nearAizawl, as the Bevela Centre of Excellence (BCE) in honour of late Rifleman Bevela Lushaiof 14 Assam Rifles.
The rechristening was carried out by Major General Suresh Kumar Bhambhu, Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), during a solemn ceremony here today.
The event was marked by the presence of Rifleman Bevela Lushai's daughter, Vanlalnghaki Chhakchhuak, along with other family members.
Former servicemen of the Assam Rifles, together with students of NIEDO, also joined the commemoration, lending the occasion a deeply emotional and historic significance.
