Aizawl, June 16 -- The 84th Raising Day of the Assam Regiment was observed with solemnity and reverence in Aizawl, honouring the valour and sacrifice of one of the Indian Army's most distinguished infantry regiments.
Mizoram Governor General (Dr) Dr V.K. Singh led the commemorations by laying a wreath at the War Memorial at Treasury Square, paying tribute to the brave soldiers of the Assam Regiment who laid down their lives in service of the nation.
Wreaths were also laid by representatives of the Mizoram Ex-Services League (MESL), the Assam Regiment, and the Assam Rifles as part of the remembrance ceremony, which drew participation from ex-servicemen and serving personnel alike.
