Guwahati, Feb. 18 -- Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar on Tuesday said that only 500 appeals were received following the recent exercise of Special Revision (SR) of electoral rolls in Assam.

Speaking at a media briefing in Guwahati, he noted that this figure, out of a total electorate of 2.5 crore, exemplifies the success of the Special Revision exercise in the state. The CEC addressed the media after concluding a two-day visit to the poll-bound state.

He was accompanied by election commissioners SS Sandhu and Vivek Joshi, along with other senior officials of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
