Guwahati, June 6 -- Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said his government is planning an elevated corridor to avoid a landslide-prone 5 km stretch of the East West Corridor for ensuring connectivity between Silchar and Guwahati.
Interacting with newspersons at Sribhumi district, Sarma said while the work of Mahasadak or East West corridor is slated to be completed by February March next year, problem is with the five kms stretch where there is frequent landslides.
"The work of Mahasadak is almost completed except a five kms stretch, which is affected by repeated landslides. Now we are planing to have an elevated corridor to cover the 5-km stretch so that the road is not affected by landslides," said the chief minister.
