Aizawl, Aug. 18 -- Tensions along the Assam-Mizoram border flared once again as Assam government officials allegedly violated the agreed status quo by damaging a rubber plantation in Mamit district, Mizoram.

This incident comes amidst stalled talks on resolving the long-standing interstate border dispute.

According to village leaders, despite earlier agreements between Mamit district officials and their counterparts in Assam's Cachar district to maintain the status quo before the high-level talks, Assam officials reportedly entered the rubber plantation area in Saikhawthlir village on Saturday.
