Guwahati, Oct. 14 -- Senior Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly, Debabrata Saikia, has requested the Speaker to institute an all-party House committee to investigate the circumstances leading to the death of iconic singer Zubeen Garg.
In a letter to the Speaker today, Saikia noted that Assemblies are empowered to institute House committees on matters concerning public importance under Article 194 of the Indian Constitution.
"The public outcry demanding justice for Zubeen Garg and the suspicion of a conspiracy behind the death have made it an apt case to be considered for and investigated by an all-party House committee," he noted.
