Guwahati, Feb. 12 -- The Assam government presented on Monday a budget of Rs 2.9 lakh crore for the financial year 2024-2025, indicating a deficit of Rs 774.47 crore. Notably, no new taxes have been suggested in the budget.

In the budget speech, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog said, "The total outlay from the Consolidated Fund of the State for the year 2024-25 is estimated to be Rs. 1,43,890.62 crore. After adding receipts of Rs 1,44,550.08 crore under Public Accounts and Rs 2,000 crore under Contingency Fund, the total receipts stand at Rs 2,90,155.65 crore."
