Guwahati, June 3 -- The Assam government on Tuesday demolished the state-owned Institute of Cooperative Management (ICM) on the Silsako Beel (wetland) in Guwahati's Borbari area to expand wetland and to ensure flood free Guwahati.
The demolition move came as a part of the government's plan to expand the Silsako wetland and to ensure that the wetland serves as a floodwater reservoir. Last month, the government had demolished the Omeo Kumar Das Institute of Social Change and Development (OKD) which was also located in the wetland.
