Guwahati, April 3 -- Seven new cases of COVID-19 positive were detected in Assam on Friday, taking the total number of cases to 23.

Except one, all other patients were linked to Nizamuddin Markaz event, state Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said.

Four new cases, all associated with the Tablighi Jamaat at Nizamuddin Markaz in Delhi last month, were confirmed this afternoon.

Three more cases were confirmed later tonight.

Among the latest cases confirmed, the lone case from Kamrup (metro) district has not been linked to the religious congregation at Nizamuddin Markaz yet.
