Guwahati, Aug. 4 -- As the Assam Government is continuing with the eviction drives, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has appealed to the people not to shelter the evicted people
and said that the government wants these people to go back to their place of origin.
Assam has started an eviction drive to clear the forest lands, government lands and other lands which have been under encroachments for a long time. Thousands of bighas of lands have been cleared of illegal encroachment. The drives however, also made thousands of people homeless overnight.
