Guwahati, Jan. 10 -- The BJP-led ruling alliance in Assam will field candidates for the three Rajya Sabha seats likely to fall vacant in April this year, said Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday, adding the ruling alliance is confident of winning two seats while the third is likely to tilt in its favour.

The All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) has announced its president Badruddin Ajmal as its candidate for one of the seats and appealed to the Congress for support to secure the third seat. Ajmal had lost the last Lok Sabha election from Dhubri in 2024.
