Guwahati, July 30 -- Assamese actress Nandini Kashyap was arrested in the early hours today in connection with the July 25 hit-and-run case that took the life of 21-year-old Samiul Haque, a polytechnic student and part-time municipal worker.
Her arrest came after days of police inquiry and mounting pressure from the student bodies and civil society organisations demanding justice.
Kashyap was arrested in north Guwahati late yesterday night and brought to Dispur police station for preliminary questioning before being shifted to the All Women Police Station in Panbazar, where her arrest was formally recorded at around 1:30 am.
