Guwahati, June 22 -- Assam's ruling BJP is likely to field candidates on its own in the forthcoming elections to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), party sources indicated on Sunday.

In a strategic move aimed at strengthening the party at the grassroots level, the party leadership has entrusted responsibilities to 40 senior karyakartas who will oversee and rejuvenate organisational structures across all council constituencies under the BTC.

According to an official statement issued from the state BJP headquarters here, these senior functionaries will visit each booth within the 40 council constituencies of the BTC to assess and enhance the organsational machinery.
