Chennai, May 27 -- The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) on Tuesday
suo motu cognizance of the death of three workers due to asphyxiation at a dyeing
unit in Tiruppur district last week and issued notices to the Tamil Nadu government
seeking a detailed report within four weeks.
Four workers entered into a sewage tank to clean it without any protective gear at a
private industrial unit in Tiruppur district on May 19, of which three died of asphyxiation
and the other person was admitted to a hospital in a critical condition.
They were reportedly, employed in the Dyeing Mill in the Karaipudur area of Tiruppur
and asked to clean the sewage tank of the factory, NHRC said on Tuesday.
