New Delhi, Feb. 7 -- India's Elavenil Valarivan successfully defended her women's 10m air rifle title at the Asian Shooting Championships 2026 in New Delhi on Saturday, producing a strong final to clinch her third individual continental crown.

The 26-year-old, who had won the same event at the previous Asian Championships in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, shot an impressive 252.0 in the final to finish on top of the podium. Valarivan had earlier claimed her maiden Asian title in 2019.

Valarivan surged into the lead in the sixth series of the final and maintained her composure till the end. Japan's Misaki Nobata, an Olympian like Valarivan, settled for the silver medal with a score of 251.5.
