Bhubaneswar, May 22 -- Odisha Vigilance officials on Thursday apprehended Pradeep Kumar Behera, an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of Tigria Police Station, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs.5,000 from a complainant to settle a dispute with a co-villager.

According to Vigilance sources, counter reports were filed by both parties involved in the dispute, which was later resolved through a compromise.

However, after the compromise, the ASI allegedly demanded a bribe from the complainant in exchange for not taking further action based on the counter report.
