Mumbai, March 31 -- Senior IAS officer Ashwini Bhide officially took over the post of Commissioner of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) from outgoing commissioner Bhushan Gagrani on Tuesday.
This appointment marks a historic milestone as she becomes the first female IAS officer to lead the BMC.
As with her new role as BMC Commissioner, the government has directed that she will continue to hold the additional charge as the Managing Director of the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC) until further notice.
