Bengaluru, Aug. 28 -- Former Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Opposition Leader in Assembly, R Ashoka, today announced that the next government will introduce legislation aimed at protecting Hindu properties and regulating worship practices at temples, including the historic Sri Chamundeshwari Temple atop Chamundi Hill in Mysuru.

"We will ensure that legal provisions are put in place so that centuries-old traditions are respected and protected," Ashoka told reporters here.

Ashoka demanded that Congress leader DK Shivakumar apologise for his recent remarks in which he claimed that properties of Sri Chamundeshwari do not belong to Hindus. Ashoka said the comments were deeply offensive and an affront to the religious sentiments of Hindus ...
