Bengaluru, Dec. 30 -- Senior BJP leader and Karnataka Leader of the Opposition R Ashoka, on Tuesday alleged largescale illegal encroachment and construction of houses on government land in Kogilu village, accusing the Congress government of sacrificing public assets worth about Rs 650 crore under the guise of humanitarian considerations.

Addressing the media, Ashoka said government land measuring 14 acres and 38 gunta in Survey Number 99 of Kogilu village had been lawfully allotted to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike for a solid waste management project, with an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore approved in 2020.
