ASHA workers to hold overnight dharna from today
Yadgir (Karnataka), Aug. 12 -- The All India United Trade Union Congress, along with the State ASHA Workers Association, has announced plans to hold an overnight dharna from today to August 14, demanding that the Karnataka government address and fulfil several long-standing demands concerning the welfare and working conditions of ASHA workers.
Speaking to media, K Somshekhar, state president of the organisation, accused the government of failing to implement key promises made earlier this year. He recalled that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had assured an increase in the monthly incentive for ASHA workers to Rs 10,000 while addressing their grievances during a four-day dharna held in Bengaluru in January.
