ASHA workers demand welfare benefits in Andhra Pradesh's Kakinada
Kakinada, June 20 -- The ASHA workers' union in Andhra Pradesh's Kakinada district resolved to demand that the government implement welfare schemes meant for them, citing their meagre wages, in a general body meeting of the union held here on Friday.
The union has decided to stage a dharna in front of the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO)'s office on June 23 in support of their long-pending demands.
The workers are paid a meagre wage of Rs 10,000 and are denied housing loans and benefits under the Thalliki Vandanam scheme, said Chandramalla Padma, Union District General Secretary.
