Aizawl, May 26 -- The resurgence of African Swine Fever (ASF), first reconfirmed by a Guwahati laboratory test on March 20 this year, has started spilling into rural Mizoram after weeks of remaining confined to urban pockets, officials from the state's animal husbandry & veterinary department said on Monday.
While ASF infections continue to persist in Lunglei town (Lunglei district) and Zawlnuam town (Mamit district), fresh cases have now been reported in 10 villages of Siaha district bordering Myanmar and five villages of Lawngtlai district bordering Myanmar and Bangladesh. Urban outbreaks remain active in 25 localities of Siaha town and 12 neighbourhoods of Lawngtlai town, officials added.
