Mumbai, Feb. 18 -- Concerned over growing illegal betting and gaming advertisements of offshore entities, the Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) on Tuesday said it has signed a MoU with Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports (FIFS), the All India Gaming Federation (AIGF) and the E-gaming Federation (EGF) to address the challenges through a "special monitoring" cell that will focus on screening and report offshore betting and gambling advertisements to the concerned ministries.
The MoU was entered between ASCI and online gaming federations on January 2, 2025 and since then ASCI has flagged 413 ads of offshore betting to the Ministry of I&B, the ASCI said in a statement.
