Mumbai, Oct. 15 -- Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant today accused the Election Commission of planning large-scale vote manipulation in advance, alleging that the new voting machines have been designed without the provision to connect Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) units.

Addressing the media after a meeting with the Chief Election Commissioner, Sawant said a delegation from the Maha Vikas Aghadi, along with representatives from the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, met election officials to question alleged irregularities in the voting process.

Sawant claimed that the State Election Commission gave "shocking" responses regarding duplicate voters.
