Itanagar, Oct. 22 -- In a major counter-insurgency operation, security forces have neutralised one cadre of the ULFA (Independent) in the Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh on the intervening night of October 21-22.
According to Defence PRO Guwahati, the operation was launched jointly by units of the Indian Army and Assam Rifles. Contact with the terrorists was established at the MS-6 area in Namsai district during the night.
Following a search operation at first light, security personnel recovered the body of one slain ULFA (I) cadre identified as Self-Styled (SS) Sergeant Major Iwon Axom. The troops also recovered one rifle, one RPG round, and three rucksacks from the encounter site.
