Itanagar, April 11 -- Pongtu Kuh, the premier agricultural festival of Arunachal Pradesh's Tutsa community, was celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety at Tutnu village in Tirap district on Saturday.

The celebration was graced by Tirap Zilla Parishad Chairperson John KK Matey as chief guest, and Superintendent of Police Aditya as guest of honour.

Khonsa East MLA Wanglam Sawin, who is also the chief patron of the celebration committee, underscored the importance of preserving indigenous traditions, including festivals, folk songs, dances, and traditional attire.

He observed that cultural preservation can significantly contribute to tourism promotion, especially as Tirap finds a place in the state's growing tourist circuit.
