Itanagar, Oct. 5 -- In a significant step towards peace and reconciliation in the region, a female cadre of the Naga insurgent group, NSCN (IM), surrendered before the Assam Rifles at Khonsa in Tirap district, Arunachal Pradesh today.
The surrendered cadre, identified as Self-Styled (SS) Corporal (No. 42245) Shikngam Wangpan, was an active member of the NSCN (IM) faction. Her surrender marks the culmination of sustained engagement and patient persuasion by the Assam Rifles troops, who maintained contact and provided continuous counselling and motivation over several months.
