Itanagar, July 8 -- In a significant step towards conservation of aquatic life and river ecosystems, Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein today launched the Nadi Utsav 2025 at Namsai, redefining the traditional river festival by replacing fishing activities with the release of fingerlings into local rivers.
The initiative aims to conserve aquatic life and restore fish populations in river systems.
As part of the programme, 30,000 fingerlings of various fish species such as Rohu, Catla, Mrigal, Grass Carp, Labeo Gonius, and Labeo Kalbasu were released into the Marua, Teang, and Namtenga rivers.
