Itanagar, Aug. 4 -- In a major breakthrough, Arunachal Pradesh's Daporijo Police arrested Pungto Ebiya alias Mamar Gunung, a proclaimed offender who had been absconding for eight years in connection with the alleged rape and brutal murder of a 15-year-old girl in August 2017.
The case, registered as case No. 30/17 under Section 302 of the IPC, was related to the horrific incident in which the victim's naked body bearing multiple stab wounds was discovered along the wayside, about 4 km from Daporijo on the Daporijo-Ziro road. At the time, three individuals were arrested in connection with the case, including Ebiya, who was later granted bail and subsequently disappeared.
