Itanagar, June 6 -- In a significant step towards improving connectivity in Arunachal Pradesh's remote frontiers, Tourism Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona on Friday met with Union Civil Aviation Secretary Samir Kumar Sinha to push for daily fixed-wing flights to Mechuka under the Government of India's UDAN scheme.
Currently dependent on limited helicopter services that don't operate in all weather conditions, Mechuka remains largely inaccessible during large parts of the year.
Emphasizing the need for dependable, all-weather connectivity, the Minister underscored the importance of year-round air access for the welfare of the local population and to tap into the region's untapped tourism potential.
