Itanagar, Sept. 16 -- The Arunachal Pradesh Police has cracked down on the so-called United Tani Army (UTA), an underground outfit, for allegedly serving extortion notices to people in Itanagar, Pasighat, and Basar.
Inspector General of Police (Law & Order) Chukhu Apa, addressing media persons at Police Headquarters here today, confirmed the arrest of four individuals - Biri Ruja, Hungsa Pansa, Tana Badang, and Marli Ingo - in connection with the case.
Police have registered cases in Special Investigation Team (SIT) Itanagar and Basar, and further investigations are underway, he said.
Officials suspect that more extortion notices may have been circulated but remain unreported.
