Itanagar, June 25 -- Arunachal Pradesh today joined the rest of the nation in solemnly observing 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas', commemorating the dark chapter of June 25, 1975, when the Emergency was imposed in India, suspending civil liberties and stifling democratic institutions.
State Governor (Retd) Lt General KT Parnaik, along with Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, led the observance at the DK Convention Centre in Itanagar. Addressing the gathering, the governor said the day serves as a reminder of the emergency and the importance of preventing any misuse of power in a democratic setup.
