Itanagar, Oct. 8 -- The Arunachal Pradesh Government has imposed a ban on the sale, distribution and use of Coldrif cough syrup following reports linking the medicine to the deaths of 11 children in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.
The decision was issued through an official advisory by Dr Komling Perme, Director of Health Services-cum-Ex-Officio Drugs Controller, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
The order prohibits the sale, stocking, and consumption of the product with immediate effect, citing the presence of diethylene glycol (DEG) - a toxic chemical - found in samples of the syrup tested in Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh.
