Itanagar, April 25 -- Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein was conferred the Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) by Gauhati University during its 32nd Convocation held in Guwahati on Friday.
The honorary degree was awarded in recognition of Mein's exceptional contributions to political leadership, cultural preservation, and regional development.
As Deputy Chief Minister since 2016, Mein has played a pivotal role in Arunachal Pradesh's hydropower reforms, cultural revitalisation of the Tai Khamti heritage, and promotion of regional connectivity including the push to reopen the historic Stilwell Road, connecting Arunachal Pradesh with Myanmar and Southeast Asia.
