Itanagar, Aug. 18 -- The Arunachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly today held a Special Session to mark the Golden Jubilee of the House, commemorating its 50-year legislative journey since the first sitting of the Provisional Assembly on this day in 1975.

Welcoming Governor Lt General (Retd) KT Parnaik, and the members of the House including Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Speaker Tesam Pongte called the celebration "a proud moment for the people of Arunachal Pradesh."

Reflecting on the Assembly's history, Pongte recalled that the 37th Constitutional Amendment Act, 1975 converted the Pradesh Council into the Provisional Legislative Assembly with 33 members. Arunachal Pradesh attained full Statehood in 1987, ...
