Itanagar, May 1 -- In a significant crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Lower Subansiri District Police apprehended a drug peddler and seized suspected heroin weighing 23.5 grams during an operation carried out under the close supervision of Superintendent of Police Keni Bagra, police said on Thursday.

Acting on credible information regarding an unidentified individual transporting contraband from Assam to Ziro, a police team comprising Inspector S Roy, Sub-Inspectors K Yigam and J Yomcha, ASI C Tallo, and constable NP Suyang was swiftly constituted under the supervision of SDPO Ojing Lego.
