Itanagar, July 2 -- An outbreak of African Swine Fever (ASF) has been confirmed in Luaksim village under Kanubari circle of Arunachal Pradesh's Longding district, raising concerns among pig farmers in the region.

The disease was detected following a diagnostic visit by Dr Tilling Tayo, Assistant Chief Technical Officer (ACTO), Animal Science, KVK Longding, after a local farmer reported illness in her pig on June 26 last.

Though the animal initially appeared healthy, symptoms of bleeding from the nose and eyes and high fever prompted further investigation. Given the clinical signs and a prior history of six pig deaths in the village earlier in the first week of June, Dr Tayo collected blood and nasal swab samples for laboratory testing. ...
