Belagavi, Nov. 14 -- Karnataka's Sugar and Sugarcane Development Minister, Shivanand Patil, on Friday vowed stringent action against those responsible for setting fire to sugarcane-laden tractors and trolleys at Sameerwadi in Bagalkot district. He also promised a full inquiry and compensation for the affected farmers.
Patil, accompanied by district in-charge Minister RB Thimmapur, inspected the site of the incident where several tractor-trolleys, bikes, and vehicles parked outside the Godavari Biorefineries factory were torched late Thursday, causing outrage among local sugarcane growers.
