Perth, Oct. 19 -- India's left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh praised Shubman Gill's leadership in his debut match as ODI captain, calling him a "bowler's captain" who offers complete freedom to his attack - much like his predecessors Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

"I have played very less ODIs, so I can't tell the difference yet, but I would say both of them were proper bowlers' captains," Arshdeep told reporters after India's seven-wicket loss to Australia in the series opener at Perth Stadium.

"They gave you proper freedom and even today Shubman, he backed whatever plans we had, and he said, bowl freely to your plans and just enjoy the moment," he added.
