Bengaluru, Sept. 24 -- The Karnataka High Court today asked the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to take instructions on a plea filed by RD Chaitra, wife of Congress MLA KC Veerendra, seeking his interim release for two to three days on account of the Dusshera festival.
Veerendra was recently arrested in connection with an alleged illegal betting racket under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
Justice MI Arun, while hearing the matter, reserved judgment on the main writ petition which challenges the arrest as arbitrary, illegal, and violative of fundamental rights under Articles 19 and 21 of the Constitution. The court stated it will pronounce the order on October 8.
