Kolkata, Dec. 27 -- A Bidhannagar court has issued an arrest warrant against Rajganj Block Development Officer (BDO) Prasanta Barman in connection with the murder of gold trader (goldsmith) Swapan Kamilya, who was killed on October 28 in New Town.
The warrant was issued after Barman failed to comply with a Calcutta High Court order directing him to surrender before the court within the stipulated deadline.
Late on Friday, the court allowed an appeal by the Bidhannagar Police Commissionerate seeking issuance of an arrest warrant against the BDO for defying the High Court's directive.
The High Court had ordered Prasanta Barman to surrender within 72 hours, a deadline that expired on December 25, Christmas Day. The police moved the court, c...
